The 2005 recipient of the Dick Hazard Lifeguard of the Year Award is JD (John) Baranger. Congratulatios JD! A perpetual plaque is on display in the Marine Safety headquarters located on the beach just north of the pier. The award was presented to JD by the Exchange Club of San Clemente. This program was expanded and made possible by BeachFire in San Clemente who helped make this event more inclusive of the whole department and city.
